Massage Self Comb

03:Massage Self Comb

Inspired by 'gua sha', a traditional Chinese healing method, the Massage Self Comb is an original design developed by Whole.

Gently rubbing the surface of the skin with the curved side of the Massage Self Comb invigorates the body by increasing blood circulation and stimulating organ function.

The Massage Self Comb also doubles up as a hair comb, with teeth on one side specially designed for reaching deep into the scalp.

Made from 100% recycled ingredients, the Massage Self Comb is light, sturdy and portable, making it ideal for carrying with you wherever you go.

Décolleté

Located just above the collarbone are a set of lymph nodes vital for the functioning of the immune system in the upper chest area. To massage them, rest the bumpy side of the Massage Self Comb in the hollow above your collarbone and slowly rock it back and forth. Repeat up to three times.

Nape of the neck

Swelling around the nape of the neck can occur when the lymph nodes running along it become clogged. To alleviate any discomfort in this area, use the Massage Self Comb's curved side to massage the large muscle that extends across the upper back, known as the trapezoid muscle. Afterwards, gently rub the Massage Self Comb back and forth between the lymph nodes in the jaw and those at the back of the head/behind the ears. Repeat up to three times.

Jawline

Place the bumpy side of the Massage Self Comb on the central part of the jaw and gently move it towards the earlobe. Then, starting from the back of the same ear, slide the Massage Self Comb towards the neck and stop when you reach the collarbone. Repeat up to three times.

Cheeks

Using the bumpy side of the Massage Self Comb, place it on one side of your mouth and move it upwards until you reach the front of the ear. Alternate with the jawline massage and repeat up to three times.

Head

Starting with the hairline, run the comb along the top of your head in a radial motion (i.e. from front to back), doing your best to cover every part evenly. This will both comb the hair and gently massage the scalp. Next, place the bumpy side of the Massage Self Comb on either the base of your neck or any section in this general area that feels stiff and move it along the desired path, massaging slowly as you go.

Things to note when using the Massage Self Comb

1

Take care

Lymphatic massages are to be done gently and on a regular basis rather than in intense, infrequent sessions. Aim to do one to three types of massage in one session and up to two sessions a day.
The face is a very sensitive part of the body, so please don't exert too much pressure when massaging.

2

Timing and Cleanliness

Massages are most effective when the body is warm, so we recommend using the Massage Self Comb fresh out the bath or after washing your face. Given that you will be touching your skin in the process, a clean environment is also important.

3

Massage Oils

Use of a massage oil or gel will help the Massage Self Comb move along the body, leading to an easier, more pleasurable massage.

4

Skin

Refrain from using the Massage Self Comb on areas of the skin with rashes, pimples or any abnormalities. Widespread areas of the skin affected by eczema should only be massaged once completely healed.

5

Hydration

We advise drinking a bottle of water (up to 500 ml) after a lymphatic massage due to the resulting increase in blood circulation and the movement of lymphatic fluid.

6

Caution

The Massage Self Comb is not to be used within two hours after eating, nor is it to be used under the influence of alcohol, when ill/injured or during the early stages of pregnancy.
